I’ve been on a journey of rediscovery since I found out I’m autistic. Armed with the knowledge that I’m not as alone as I felt, I’ve been trying to learn more about myself and how my mind works. Through this, I’ve come across some excellent SFF books that are either written by autistic authors or feature autistic characters. I believe that reading is one of the most powerful methods of building empathy and, as it is Autism Acceptance Month, I would like to share (in no particular order) a list of recommended SFF reads with you.

Dark and gritty, with memorable characters, Legacy of the Brightwash was a great read.
Review: Legacy of the Brightwash (Tainted Dominion #1) by Krystle Matar
Legacy of the Brightwash will take your breath away, emit tears from the deepest part of your soul, and then make your jaw drop with each passing page. The author is invested in her world, and it shows with the passion that she writes with. There is a lot that readers will enjoy in this world as well as being shattered from the overwhelming emotions.

Review: Legacy of the Brightwash (Tainted Dominion #1) by Krystle Matar
It has taken me a while to compose myself long enough to sit down and write this review. There is so much that I could say about Legacy of the Brightwash, so many things that I absolutely adored, and it’s not often that I am moved to silence by something. Krystle Matar has written something truly magical, a tour de force of character building which makes me yearn to be in her world, if only to meet Tashué and crew personally.
