World Running Down is a post-apocalyptic meet cute that doesn’t shy away from asking the big questions. The characters are expertly written and it’s, dare I say, impossible not to empathize with their struggles and cheer on their victories. What I think I love best about it though is the pervading sense of hope throughout; World Running Down is about good people doing their best to survive in a world that’s just trying to get by, by acting with love and compassion. That’s powerful.
Reviews
Review: The Blood of Outcasts (The Bane Sword Saga #1) by D.A. Smith
The Blood of Outcasts is set in a fantasy world that seems to be based on ancient Japan. It features a ton of action, unique magic, and a fast-paced storyline.
Review: The Chasm (Finding Humanity #2) by Branwen O’Shea
The Chasm was an excellent sequel to The Calling. I recommend both books for fans of adventure-driven science fiction with an array of very interesting characters.
BOOK TOUR/REVIEW: Chronicles from the World of Guilt by Chris Durston
If you’re in the mood for some mind-bending sci-fi/horror and/or are a fan of Chuck Palahniuk, this is the collection for you. It will keep you on your toes and challenge your imagination in the best way possible.
Review: The Calling (Finding Humanity #1) by Branwen O’Shea
The Calling is not your typical YA science fiction story, and there was a lot to this world beyond the ice age and the sickness, but the characters and the conflict between them were what really drew me in.
Review: Black Stone Heart (The Obsidian Path, book 1) By Michael R Fletcher
A dark and foreboding picture painted from a mesmerising spectrum of greys that will invade your dreams and expand your mind.
BOOK REVIEW: Paladin Unbound (An Archive of Evelium Tale #1) by Jeffrey Speight
Paladin Unbound is a fantastic fantasy story with epic quests, colorful characters, twists and turns, rich lore and world-building and a fast-paced narrative that’ll keep you on the edge of your seat. Jeffery Speight has secured a spot on my authors to watch list and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for Evelium next.
Review: Gunmetal Gods (Gunmetal Gods Saga #1) by Zamil Akhtar
This book is magical. Zamil did an amazing job sharing his experience and making the Middle Eastern culture understandable for someone who has little to no background in it. He dunks your head into the metaphorical water so you can’t do anything else but be fully immersed in this vivid, colorful world.
Review: The Awakening of Marcianna (Thief of Destiny #1) by Isabelle Markus
This was a very interesting coming to power story, in that the main character is middle-aged and has built a family prior to gaining her abilities.
Review: Of Mycelium and Men (The Biomass Conflux #1) by William C. Tracy
This was a very interesting read, and from my perspective as a microbiologist, well-researched. I’m interested to see where book 2 will take the story.
Review: Welkin The Returned by G.Owen Wears
Welkin, The Returned is a unique and charismatic experience that I enjoyed very much.
Review: No Land for Heroes (Legends and Legacies #1) by Cal Black
Overall, this was a lot of fun to read and it goes fast. There is barely enough time for a reader to catch their breath before the author takes you into the next twist and turn. I recommend lovers of westerns, family, and dragons to climb aboard the train of this series as it holds a lot of promise for the future as well. I, for one, look forward to spending more time with these magical characters in their next adventure.
