Character Q&A
Could you please introduce yourself to our readers?
Matt Potter, newly inducted magician and regulation lad.
What music do you listen to?
A bit of everything.
What are 3 items you can’t live without?
Coffee. A lighter. Given what we’re going through, my new silver tattoos.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what is one thing you’d like to have with you?
We’ve just met this girl Chloe. She’s got her own cult and seems to be prepared for absolutely anything. As much as she irritates the shit out of me, I reckon she’d have us off faster than Ben gets awkward about things.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Suitwankers. Particularly the manspreading kind.
What do you do in your free time?
I like a beer, a cigarette and hanging out with my best friend Ben. My flatmates are ok, but Ben and I go way back.
What makes you want to get out of bed in the morning?
A pint and a blow job. But more often than not, just a really strong coffee
What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
If you’re thinking about having a sausage roll the morning after a big night out, don’t. Think, that is. Just do it.
What do you carry in your bag?
Who needs a bag when you’ve got pockets?
What’s your favorite animal?
Whatever’s in the burger I’m eating right now. The guy told me it was beef but who knows – could be pigeon.
What do you think about [other MC(s)]?
Without getting all weird and emotional, Ben is basically my awkward brother, and again, given what we’ve been through I’d probably be dead without him. Alice is obviously really smart but I don’t really get her. Chloe’s really annoying and posh, but I kind of fancy her. Lincoln’s a massive dick, but he’s been through it, if you know what I mean.
Do you have favorite saying?
Who you choose to be around you lets you know who you are. Thought that was pretty profound for a car movie, you know?
What is your favorite holiday?
Malaga. Ibiza. Somewhere with clubs and sun.
If you could go anywhere in [the book’s world], where would you go and why?
Malaga. Ibiza. As long as they don’t have ghosts that make you explode.
What do you do to relax?
Pint. Good book. Cigarette. Preferably at the same time.
What is your favorite food?
Pie and mash.
What is your favorite season?
Skins, season 3. Great first episode.
How would you define happiness?
Process. Not end result. People get that wrong all the time.
What are you passionate about?
Passion’s a bit of a weird word, isn’t it?
How do you feel about your government?
They’ve done bloody well in keeping all this a secret, haven’t they?
If you could change one thing about [the book’s world], what would it be?
Removing the thing that lets all the ghosts and shit in.
What’s your biggest secret?
I quite fancy a woman who might be over a hundred years old.
What do you hate?
Suitwankers. Didn’t we do this already?
What’s your biggest fear?
You know that bit in Jurassic Park where that guy gets caught on the toilet? Basically that.
What do you think your best quality is?
All of them.
How would you describe the world you live in?
It’s pretty fucked up at the moment but thank god you can still get a burger in the apocalypse.
