Cover Reveal: Sweet Briar by Rowena Andrews

June 12, 2023 by Justin Gross Leave a Comment

Hello and welcome to our cover reveal for Rowena Andrews’ forthcoming Fantasy novel, Sweet Briar! This cover is truly a work of art, just gorgeous in every sense of the word, but before we get to that do take a look over the details of the book itself because it sounds just as great! Rowena has been a stalwart supporter of both the indie SFF community, as well as Escapist as a frequent host, so I am so thrilled to return the favor in a small way by helping out with today’s reveal. Alright, enough blabbing! On to the reveal!

Sweet Briar by Rowena Andrews
Genre: Fantasy
Intended Age Group: Adult
Published:
October 31, 2023
Publisher: Tearfall Publishing (Self Published)

Book Blurb:

In Eosros, a Lady Witch must honour the Goddess, preserve the balance, and marry well. And not necessarily in that order.

Roseanne is the last member of the Yarrow family. She is also a Sweet Briar, a Lady Witch cursed by a love lost and her parents’ illicit attempts to cure her. Now flowers bloom on her skin, her magic is corrupted, and her heart is locked away. Yet all society cares about is seeing her wed or stealing her position in the High Coven.

Meriel is a Thorn. An illegitimate daughter to one of the great houses. She is also one of the most talented witches that Eosros has seen in a generation, a dangerous position for someone of her standing, and she has her mother to protect.

In the gardens of the Yarrow estate their paths collide, as one seeks sanctuary and the other tries to escape the demands of her position. Caught between the schemes of a court that wants to keep them apart and interfering allies, they must find a common path if they are to find salvation together or risk losing more than their freedom to the demands of society.

But briars have thorns of their own, and love is far more complicated than nurturing a garden.

Cover Reveal:

How breathtaking is this cover? Truly, it’s one of the best covers I’ve seen in a long time and it instantly makes me want to read the book, no questions asked. I don’t want to read the blurb, I don’t care what it’s about, I just need to feel the connection these two obviously have, even if just for a second. Ashe Arends really outdone herself with this illustration and Allegra Pescatore’s cover design somehow manages to enhance it, as well! I’ll link their info down below, but for now let’s take a look at the cover without all that pesky lettering in the way!

This is seriously one for the shelf! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! Speaking of, don’t forget that Sweet Briar is available to pre-order NOW!

Pre-order your copy here!

Finally, I leave you with the full cover wrap! Again, I can’t sing this cover’s praises enough! It’s absolutely stunning and I can’t wait to get a cope when it releases this fall. A sapphic fantasy romance, with plant magic and witches in a regency-esque setting? What else could you ask for?

About the Author:

Rowena Andrews spent her childhood searching for Dragons and talking to animals and started turning that into words when she was bored in class. She wrote her first book at fourteen and while it lives forever in the bottom of the sock drawer, the encouragement from her English Teacher meant the writing bug took hold and never went away.

Rowena has a BSc in Geography and a PG Diploma in Coastal and Maritime Societies and Cultures. She moved to Scotland for University, fell in love with the place and never left, and now lives and works on the east Fife coast.

When she’s not writing or reading, she’s hoarding dice and playing Dungeons & Dragons, and submitting to the whims of a demanding cat and a pair of mini dachshunds.

About Justin Gross

Justin is a lover of all things SFF and has been an avid reader since he was three. He is attempting to build the world’s largest private library (not really, but ask his wife and she might agree). Justin is always excited to gush over his favorite reads, which more often than not are also his latest reads. He likes trend toward sweeping epics, with complex characters and even more complex plots. Until recently he was totally against romance, but certain books have shown him that it can be done well. He currently has a love/hate relationship with grimdark.
