Hello and welcome to our cover reveal for Samantha Eaton’s forthcoming adult horror novel, The Roots in Your Bones! I am so thrilled to be helping reveal this gorgeously macabre cover today! Sean read and reviewed Eaton’s first novel, The Insatiable Hunger of Trees, last month and really liked it (you can read his review here), so it goes without saying that we’re really excited for her sophomore effort! Eaton is describing it as a “folk horror story with elements of women’s lit and humor woven in with the darkness.” She goes a little more in-depth about the book and her inspirations (including T. Kingfisher and Rachel Harrison) on her blog.

And there it is! Ugh! This cover is so creepy, but in a way that instantly makes me want to know more about it. Does that make sense? I love how the title itself is represented in the roots of the trees gradually becoming spines. That, along with the skull growing into (or out of) the landscape, the pale white roses, and the overall muted tones of the cover all combine to become something altogether eerie!

Samantha Eaton is a horror author from the little, coastal town of Lincolnville, Maine. She shares her home with her boyfriend, three cats, three dogs, and twenty-something chickens.
