Interview:
Jord: Who are you?
Troy: I am a self described super nerd. I am new to the creative writing game in 2019 but had always been a creator. I started playing Dungeons and Dragons, becoming the Dungeon Master, and created a world to play with his friends. The campaigns created the world that has become Seekers. Through friends and coworkers, and of course Booktube, I have created the world of Seekers. I always try to do things at 100%, and have given everything into this world.
Jord: Where did the idea of a Seeker come from?
Troy: I always enjoyed the idea of a cool coat and hoodie as the attire of a fantasy agent and always liked that visual. I am also really fond of Indiana Jones and a lover of all things of history, which I have a bachelor’s degree in. In fact, when I played MTG I would use the artifact cards. With all of these things combined, I came up with the Seekers.
Jord: The artwork is stunning that I have seen. Where did you get them?
Troy: The artwork was done after and is more for the readers to have a better idea of the story that they have read. The artist did take some creative liberties but I am quite happy with the results. Just an FYI, there are some Kingdom Hearts Easter eggs if you know where to look.
Jord: Where did the monsters come from?
Troy: I hate worms and creepy crawlies that are around, but I felt that giant worms were played out. I came up with Giant Scorpions, Googlenai, Leviathans and more.
Jord: What challenges did you have to overcome?
Troy: Creating the cover, interior design and the map. I used 99 designs where I pay the cost up front and they run a contest for the best cover. I chose the winner but then as it turns out, the final cover was not the final design. Unfortunately, the artist who did it ended up with two fractured wrists and couldn’t make the changes that I was requesting. Fortunately, I was saved by Fiver in order to get the final cover that is now visible on the book. The interior design and map were also saved by the same guy on Fiver in order to make it the way that I wanted it.
Jord: What is next for Book 2?
Troy: The same cast of characters will be present with some awesome new characters as well. I am going to play it close to the vest but I am currently staring at the 17k words as this interview is going on. It will be a four book series and it has a full outline.
Troy’s Final Notes: I wanted to write something fun that also is a coming of age but that deals with more realistic issues. Life continually changes with time, and this showcases not just teens going through change, but what everyone might experience. I just wanted it to be fun and to be something good.
Why you should read it:
Seekers: The Winds of Change is a book that is a promising start to an awesome series. The monsters and action are both very memorable leading to a very fun reading experience. I have a review that highlights my high points of the novel as well. This is one that will read quick but stay with you for a long time.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. As always. happy reading and Stay Great!!
