Disclaimer: I read this as part of SPSFC. This review is my own personal opinion and does not reflect the views of Team Escapist.
This is a really interesting story of what would happen if the world actually runs out of resources. Full of a secret world that is behind the scenes of the actual world, it follows several different plot lines in an interesting time when the world is really falling to pieces. It has its moments of darkness, coming up early in the book and occurring off and on throughout.
The strength of the novel were the variety of characters that we meet in the novel. The easy favorites and most recognized, are the orphans, in particular, the five year old genius. He plays an integral part of the story and it was fun to read about a genius that still has the impulses of a young child. Some of the issues that I had with the story is that it felt like there were too many ideas going on. It jumps from one to the other, causing it to feel as if it is unsure what story should have been the highlight of the novel. The characters are still great and the ideas were all interesting but, they didn’t all flow together.
The Prometheus Effect is a story that will make you think of how we are utilizing the natural resources of our planet and where it could lead. It shows the darker side of human greed and not thinking of the future of the human race. Even with the large amount of ideas, it will definitely engage the reader in a variety of intriguing ideas that will stick in the mind as it plays over and over again with the ideas that it implants. It is a solid stand alone that hints at what may come in the future if we do not take care of the resources that we use.
Thank you for taking the time to read my review. As always, happy reading and Stay Great!!
