Today I have the privilege, nay, the honor of revealing the cover to the third book of the Hybrid Helix by JCM Berne. This series has quickly become one of my favorites and I have eagerly been looking forward to the third installment that will be release on October 31st. As part of this reveal, I got to read the blurb to find out more about it. Now it is time for you to get excited by reading it now:
Blurb:
People are dying, their corpses left savaged and drained of blood. The obvious culprit: vampires. But vampires shouldn’t be able to sneak around Wistful undetected or shadowstep freely inside her body. Soon the station herself becomes oddly uncooperative, leaving Rohan and Wei Li bewildered and all her inhabitants in danger.
Finding and defeating the killer will require a deep dive into the ancient history of Wistful and of the il’Drach people. Into the connections between the Ursans, the wormholes, and the races that preceded them. Into the dark past of a tormented space station that yearns only for death.
Rohan will be forced to fight, and maybe even to kill. He’ll have to face those who bear grudges from his past, the Empire he once served, and his own reluctance to again become the warrior he sometimes needs to be.
Q&A with the Author:
The suspense that the blurb brings makes me very excited to see where some of these familiar characters will end up. I look forward to returning to see what is next for Rohan. As such, I asked a few questions about this new release.
What challenges did you face in writing book 3?
JCM Berne: The big challenges are continuing the series, giving people what they enjoyed with the first two, while advancing the overall story and worldbuilding. It’s very hard to balance. I also have to progress characters. I can’t have Rohan re-learning the same lessons that he was supposed to have figured out in either of the first two books.
What excites you the most for this release and why?
JCM Berne:
I’m excited to show more of the worldbuilding and give peeks into the possible long-term storyline. I deliberately kept most of that out of the first book. I really like the slow reveal, giving little hints and mentions of story elements I don’t plan to use until later. I’m hoping readers will be intrigued and excited to find out more!
Really, I’m most excited to develop a community of readers who are willing to come along for the journey. I love telling this story!
The Reveal:
Now for the amazing cover that has been created by the artist, Chris McGrath, (same artist who does the Dresden covers) and graphic artist, Stephanie Yang. To whet the appetite and to remind everyone of the incredible series I will lead with the first two covers created by these same artists for the series.

They show the incredible Rohan in action as he goes about the adventures of his life. The awesome uniform of Rohan plays a part in the series and you should definitely join the adventure to find out where we go next. Those two look amazing but this new one has become my new favorite:

It just screams action! I love that the series all has that subtle arch to the titles and the author name not taking away from the image. I eagerly look forward to the story that accompanies this amazing image. I just want to thank JCM Berne for allowing me the honor of revealing this new novel.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. As always, happy reading and Stay Great!!
